the other yesterday song
Aug. 15th, 2012 10:37 amI watch a show on the Syfy network called "Alphas." In some ways it's a knock-off of the X-men concept (folks were born with special talents. Some use them for good, some for evil, there is a coming Alphas vs regular humans war, etc). No body changes, really, so the special effects budget is pretty low. One of the main points is the inter-personal relationships, or at least that's why I keep watching. The original reason I watched was because I've been a fan of actor David Strathairn for decades, and he's one of the main characters, a shrink who coordinates a team of the gifted people. In the most recent episode, the person he's working with can learn any physical skill immediately, but she doesn't seem to form long-term memories (she maintains the skills, but can't remember her childhood, for example). The shrink has an LP collection in his office, and told her that just hearing some of the songs brings back memories from his youth. At the end of the episode, she chose one of the LPS and started to listen. The song was
"I've seen all good people" by Yes. It didn't bring back specific memories for me, but sort of a general high school scene with certain people, enough that I could place it as 1971 before we looked it up to see which album it was from ("The Yes Album,", their 3rd).
