Army hazard I hadn't thought of
Aug. 31st, 2012 12:36 pmTwenty of the members of the US paralympic team now in London are veterans. Some of their impairments are clearly war-related, such as the swimmer who was blinded by an IED. Some are could happen to anybody things, like a car crash. One of the former soldiers became paralyzed when he was struck by lightning while on duty. I've read a lot about spinal cord injuries, but had never thought of that one. It made sense after I re-read the account, which mentioned that he was thrown 40 feet. Yikes.
