Apparently Mr. Bush got the sticker as well - NPR thought it worth mentioning during the obligatory news snippet about him going to Texas to vote. That little sticker is on the list of my all-time favorite subtle set decorations. On the election day episode near the end of West Wing's run, all the people bustling around their White House offices had little white spots on their suit jackets. After a minute or two it clicked - they were all sporting "I Voted" stickers. No close-ups to see the writing, no verbal reference to them, but there they were. Perfect.

Garrison Keillor goofs with Sir Walter Scott to make it more appropriate for the day:

Breathes there the man with soul so dead,
Who never to himself hath said,
This is my day, election day!
Who heart hath ne'er within him burn'd,
As toward the polling place he turned
And thereto promptly made his way—
If such there breathe, go, mark him well;
For him no Minstrel raptures swell;
High though his titles, proud his name,
Boundless his wealth as wish can claim;
Despite those titles, power, and pelf,
The wretch, concentred all in self,
Living, shall forfeit fair renown,
And, doubly dying, shall go down
To the vile dust, from whence he sprung,
Unwept, unhonour'd, and unsung.
