stuff again
Nov. 20th, 2006 02:53 pmI haven't done much getting rid of stuff lately, and in fact I've acquired some new items:
*a pair of pink plastic flamingos made by the factory in Leominster that has just gone out of business
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15515764/
*a sparkly shirt for a dance show
*a set of new spark plugs and some brake shoes (+ installation). I'm really gratified about the spark plugs, because I had suspected that they were the cause of the car's hesitations during acceleration attempts. I got a warm and fuzzy feeling that the current (2000 model) Volvo station wagon is acting the same way that the 1979 one did in fall 1988, for the same reason. The car has all sorts of modern high tech stuff, but some things just don't change.
*a cheap plastic kid-size hula hoop, which I can't really manage to use.
I was about to buy a second-hand big hoop
http://www.jasonunbound.com/hoops.html
(I can hoop with one of those for 10+ minutes at a time without much effort), but Arthur beat me to it, and bought a collapsible one. He has offered to let me use it.
Items I'm hoping to acquire soon (although 2/3 of them will involve hiring people to make them)
*A copy of Jayne Cobb's cunning hat
http://alison.caffeinatedbliss.com/knit/jaynehat.php
*a pair of naalbinding socks
http://www.dueppel.de/nadelbind/uppsala3.jpg
*an ulu knife
http://www.ulu.com/
and I plan to make one of these of linen, handstitched, as soon as I figure it out

We're about to get a rug for Arthur's home office (to replace the astounding gross 30 year old one), but that won't take up any extra space.
