comet sighting!
Jan. 11th, 2007 05:50 pmBetter luck this time, and it really was luck - there were clouds at the horizon again, but not as thick, and the comet was just in between layers. I was scanning the skyline with the binoculars to get a better view of Venus (I think) and saw McNaught. After I'd seen it with the bincoculars I did manage to spot it with just my eyes (and glasses) but I don't think it would have worked the other way around.
Today I went to a meadow near the top of a hill in the national park land not far from here. It was a beautiful spot to watch the sunset, but I was a little uncomfortable alone surrounded by trees. I'd been there many times in the past with Arthur and Florence, but never alone, and it (by definition) was nearly dark. Maybe I read too many murder mysteries. It was the first time since I was a kid that I thought it might be nice to have a dog. I made it back home unharmed, just cold, a novelty this winter.
