I dreamed last night that I was planting butterbeans (a relative of lima beans), although in the dream when it grew from the seeds, it was baby bok choy. Maybe it's common to have the wrong illustrations, either in sleep or online. When I looked at wikihow to see how much trouble it would be to grow lima beans, the instructions were clear but the illustrations were consistently of other things.

I was going to make bean soup today anyway, so before soaking I took out a bunch of different beans and followed the advice to put them into a sealed plastic bag with damp paper towels. We'll see if anything sprouts.

Every year I think of growing the three sisters together. Never do it, because of laziness and lack of sunny backyard. On the other hand, last fall I had a couple of volunteer squashes in the front yard (actually in the berm by the street), so maybe I should cultivate the front yard. Not likely to happen.

This year I might grow grape tomatoes in a big bucket, though.

I am not a gardener, but a friend who is has had good luck with growing upside-down tomatoes in a small space. [That is, the growing method is upside down, the tomatoes are. . . tomatoes ;-> ]
