That's exciting (but not terrifying)
Apr. 13th, 2020 03:29 pmThe other reason people (including me) were out doing things this morning instead of later in the day might have been the predicted wind storm. The forecasters were right about possible downed trees. A tree has fallen on our garage. Even leaning out of the windows at the back of the house with binoculars, it's hard to tell whether a branch pierced the garage roof. We haven't gone out to look inside the garage (which is at the back of the lot, maybe fifty feet behind the house) lest something fall on *us* but I have called and emailed the tree folks, hoping to get an early place in the waiting list for removal.
UPDATE:
Multiple holes in the garage roof, limbs inside the garage at surprising angles. Garage contents seem OK, including the push broom, which I used on the driveway so that we could move the cars out of the garage in case of (unlikely) collapse. Driveway was cleared, but I drove my car out without taking time to clean all the detritus off the top. That can happen when it is daylight and not raining. Tree guy is coming in the morning to make an estimate, insurance agent will come. After that we'll need to find a contractor, I guess, because this is beyond what a roofer can fix. I was planning to get the bicycle worked on anyway, but I don't think it is really damaged either.
