As the year goes on, it is possible that it will get warmer. Also, the duration of my long slow distance runs should get longer. At some point soon, I will want to drink water during the run. Most summers, I partly plan my running routes based on availability of water fountains. After some pondering, I had planned to pack a couple of alcohol wipes and clean off the fountain before drinking. Arthur feels that this wouldn't be good enough. I have started looking at reviews of hydration vests, but that seems extreme. In a hypothetical way, presuming that races of the future are like those of the past, I asked if he would be OK with me taking a cup of water from a water table. To my surprise, he said yes, because probably only one person would have touched the cup. Not much later in the morning, he told me about this article on the origin of the single-use drinking cup, invented to keep school children from drinking out of the same cup and passing diseases around.
