Like many people in Massachusetts, I am waiting with some eagerness and worry for the declaration of Phase One ("start") of the reopening process, to be officially announced by the governor this afternoon. I had already made some tentative plans for myself - no to indoor most things, yes to some outdoor ones. We've been having Tai Chi classes on Zoom. The usual summer Saturday class meets in a park. I have said that I would be willing to do that (masked, distanced), but not attend indoor classes in the foreseeable future. The instructor is excited about outdoor classes, but worries, justifiably, that every possible person will show up to the first good weather outdoor class, and proper distancing won't be possible. Maybe yes to outdoor restaurants under the new rules, no to eating inside. We have never been take-out food people, and that is still true. We miss some food that I can't make, although I managed a near-Indian restaurant version of chickpeas and cauliflower last week. I have been doing all our grocery shopping, while using Instacart for my parents in NC. Vacillating about the dental hygienist. Planning to go to the eye doctor appointment next month, if available, but leery about being fitted for new glasses, due to the face touching required. My one try at ordering glasses online was not successful, but that was years ago. The system might be better now. Yes to the dermatologist. No indoor movies or other shows. Almost no clothing shopping. I am considering buying an Ed Markey for Senate t-shirt by mail, but who would see it? Not really thinking about how ringing will work, as long as the churches we ring at are mostly locked anyway.
I suspect it is safer to ride T buses now (when one stays far back from the driver, and everyone must wear a mask) than it will be after a while, but I don't have anywhere to go. Not going to go to a public pool this summer, even though there is no evidence of water spread. My area of major waffling is flying to see my parents. I currently have nothing booked, a pretty new experience for me.

OTOH, maybe my subconscious is undecided. I dreamed that I was taking the bus from Davis Square to the main branch Somerville library to return a book (but then why was I on the 87, not the 88?). I realized that I wasn't wearing a mask, and tried digging through my backpack to find one, but came up empty. I got off before Union Square, and had lunch in a Chinese restaurant with some sports commentators (?) that I had never met before, including sharing an appetizer. We remarked to each other that there didn't seem to be extra distancing happening. Brain, what is going on here?
