a little to early for souling, isn't it?
Oct. 7th, 2020 02:03 pmAs we were doing fridge inventory before the farmers' market trip, Arthur listed apples, pears, and plums, plus the handful of blueberries that neither of us has been willing to finish up, because then they'd be all gone for the season. It made me think immediately of the song lyric (either PP&M or Sting) "an apple a pear a plum a cherry, any good thing to make us all merry." No more local plums either, as it turned out, and cherries are long past, but there will still be apples for a while. Couldn't be each peach pear plum, because the peaches are also in the past. We're already starting to worry about food once the local farms have been put to bed for the winter. I presume less than the usual bounty from California will happen this year, due to Covid, fires, and our government's oppressive policies toward immigrants. We will have plenty to eat, just not much fresh veg in the winter (possibly as it should be).
