deja vu all over again

Beginning last December, my mother had viral pneumonia (probably)

Maybe again, with more vagueness from the medical folks. Negative for Covid, at least as of last Sunday. I've been in NC for almost a week. There is also body stuff going on with my father. I am tired, but not as exhausted as my mother is. It's nice to have lungs that work properly. As with the July trip

I am staying masked in the house, but after a couple of days (and multiple bug bites), I have stopped eating outdoors. I now eat by the door, with it open (except this morning, when leaves blew in). The caregivers are a lot sloppier about the masks.
This is the new normal, for a while.

Hang in there. Good luck to you. I just couldn't do the mask at my parents house thing, despite not being completely comfortable with their general precautions, like having my stepsister's (half)sister stay over night on her way to Oregon, and having some random friends over for a couple of hours to chat.

My line seems to be sleeping in one. Starting last night, i am sleeping in her room, because her breathing is so strained and she is so weak that i want to be near immediately if needed. If she's not better by Monday, we'll talk seriously about trying the ER instead of the respiratory clinic again. (She isn't allowed at her regular doctor's office because they are turning away potential Covid carriers. Everybody with respiratory systems is funneled to a phone triage nurse, and then the designated clinic or ER). I went to bed with a soft cotton mask on, but almost immediately realized I couldn't sleep in it, even though i managed to nap on the plane, and I *two* masks on then. I tried sleeping with a t-shirt over my face, instead, but that wasn't great either.
