Arthur's first teaching day too. Here's our picture
first day of school 2007

I'm the only person in any of my classes older than regular college age. There are a couple of
*high school* kids in the essay writing class. I have the grammar part down, and I'm not worried about research papers, but I am dreading the personal essays. We had half an hour to write one in class today, and I was the last one finished. I suspect it was terrible. Everybody else has had practice, since that kind of thing crops up on the MCAS and the SAT.

I had planned to review some math in August but didn't do it, and now that Physics has started I really do feel like running around crying "Cosines and tangents and sines, oh my!"
The good news (besides learning stuff) is that I have acquaintances in a couple of classes, and the food is good in the South Campus cafeteria. (and they have brightly colored melamine plates).

What shows my age most is all the technology.
The previous calculating device I used for logarithms was a slide rule. Now I need to learn to use Florence's hand-me-down calculator. There are study aids online for Psychology, the suggested way to take notes in Physiological Chemistry (universally called Phy (fie) Chem, even by the professor) is to print out the powerpoint slides in advance and write on them during the lecture, some of the Physics homework is online and I had to buy a CPS response pad.

Sort of related, but more about little kids, is this somewhat scary editorial
