I don't understand advertising
Sep. 9th, 2007 01:39 pmReebok is running TV commercials with the tag line "Be a woman. Be a Fan." The idea is that you're supposed to cheer for professional teams, while wearing logo clothing designed for women's sizes instead of men's. I think. It seemed odd to me that a manufacturer of exercise wear would encourage people not to exercise, but then I remembered their huge campaign to get people to not try hard when they're running. There were signs all over the T at marathon time, and this on their home page:

I rummaged around their web site and discovered that they have clothes endorsed by Scarlett Johansson. As a frequent skirts wearer, I was interested in this

I would be very curious to see hurdlers racing in mini-skirts.

I would have assumed that the OSU cheerleaders would be the type to leap tall
buildings in a single bound (or whatever is required to be top-notch).
Way beyond the yelling and cartwheels of my youth.
It's startling what one finds on the web. Searching for cheerleader injuries, I came across this

There are a couple of the photos that show what her real job is, or will be, but mostly not so much. Cheerleader today, driving a tank tomorrow I guess.
