full-circle sandwich consumption
Jul. 8th, 2020 12:51 pmWe have never really been purchasers of take-out food. The packaging always bothered me, and if we wanted to eat restaurant food, we went to a restaurant. The big exception was the minimally wrapped food I often bought at the Boston Public Market or Ernesto's Pizza, to eat with other bellringers on the Greenway or indoors at the BPM, or other picnicky circumstances. I know many people who have done a weekly take-out meal during the stay-at-home time, to support local restaurants. I understand the motivation, but until today, the only think like take-out we have done is put-it-into-the-trunk bags of bagels. Both bagel places in Lexington offer that sort of touchless curbside delivery. On March 18th, we took out some sandwiches (and popovers) from the Burlington Clover branch

Today we had another errand to do in Burlington, so we checked to see if they were back open and offering take-out up to our standards (order and pay online, food delivered in compostable packaging to our trunk). Yup. After four months, the sandwiches were even better than in my memory. I can't imagine eating in a restaurant any time for months into the future, but this was nice. And then fresh blueberries from yesterday's farmers market (everyone masked and sanitized and distanced) for dessert. Yum, yum, yum.
