I realized that "The Favourite" was a slight throwback to a sort-of Christmas movie, "About a Boy," because Rachel Weisz and Nicholas Hoult are in both films.

I often refer to the French and Indian War/Seven Years war as WW0, because it encompassed conflict over large areas of the world, and led soon after to another war (the American Revolution), and thence to the French Revolution. Now I've decided that maybe Ww-1 should be Queen Anne's war (in North American) combined with the war of Spanish Succession taking place more or less at the same time, in which much of Europe (and the Britain) were embroiled.
The unnamed war in "The Favourite" was a major plot point, but seemed much less like the huge deal it actually was for European armies.

This is the version I first learned, in which John Tams substituted King George for Queen Anne, for the series Sharpe, based on Bernard Cornwall's novels
