new email address
Jan. 5th, 2011 11:43 amThe @erols.com address that I have been using ever since I first took up with email is defunct. I have spent more than an hour and a half on the phone with RCN (which bought out erols long ago) trying to sort out why my email suddenly stopped working. It turns out that for some reason, the payment that has been successfully going automatically via Arthur's credit card didn't, and they cut me off. To continue with @erols we would have to continue paying for dial-up, and that just seemed nuts. It probably has been nuts for years, but I don't think I mentally processed how much it was costing. At some point later today I'll need to change some group emails and let family know and so forth. Anything I've sent via webmail has had an @rcn.com ending for ages, but now it all will. Except for the hotmail, bsc.edu, uml.edu, and yahoo email addresses I also have. I know that some people use gmail because of this, but I'm not ready to be sucked into that. The only reason I have the yahoo address is that it's required (or was) to join Yahoo groups, and I've never sent anything from it. Supposedly the UML address will just disappear at some point (it's been over six months since graduation) but it was still working last week, anyway. I use the hotmail for organizations (charities, amazon) and I like having the separation between that stuff and personal communications.
