when in doubt, blame the government
Jan. 27th, 2011 01:49 pmWhen I was heaving away at the snow-plow leavings at the end of the driveway the neighbor offered to blow it for me. I observed that he was shoveling, not blowing, and was told the story of his machine dripping oil and smoking during the previous storm. I guess he decided not to risk it this time. He traveled along the needs to be repaired conversation to inform me of the epidemic of blown gaskets in gas-powered blowers, apparently due to the corrosive effects of ethanol. (I looked this up, and it does seem to be quite prevalent). His claim is that the government knew this would happen when the push toward ethanol began, but kept the information secret.
