I received the email equivalent of a chain letter from the person I sit next to in two classes. We're friendly enough, but I don't necessarily think of us as friends. Back when they were physical letters, I'd send it back with a polite no thank you, so that the sender could harass someone else and not break the chain. In the case of this email, I don't think there will be any noticeable difference to the sender whether I pass it on or not (it's kind of like a prayer request- how would he know that a hypothetical 13 fewer people are praying?), but I don't know the etiquette. I am not going to send it on to other people.
