Sounds like he's returned to his childhood, when these ideas were more popular.

This sort of sentiment always brings to mind a story found in native American archeology. It was the burial site of a 12 or so year old boy - with spina bifida. They surmised that he couldn't ever have been able to walk; he had to be cared for quite diligently.

If this much poorer, without modern medicine society is willing to spend the resources to keep a non-contributing crippled individual alive, why wouldn't we? (Or could it be that each individual contributes...)

(And he's 91 - perhaps we should ship him to Siberia when he is no longer useful.)
