I was in the middle of a hands-on exam this afternoon, with one of my instructors as the patient, when I suddenly stopped, mid-sentence, and pointed out that it was snowing. I tell people I'm easily distractable, but that's pretty extreme. She reacted calmly, but I presume points will be deducted. It would be reasonable for a patient to want the therapist to pay attention to the therapy, not the weather.

Nah, I've seen enough health care professionals in my time that something like that would be a welcome change.

I'll second this. The one time I had physical therapy in a room with a window we talked a lot about the weather (luckily, being New England, there was pretty much always something to talk about).
