I felt the desire for apple pie. We're out of apples, and I didn't want to bother going to the store. I rummaged around the kitchen and came up with a brown sugar Nature's Path organic toaster pastry* from the distant past and a fresh cucumber from the farmer's market. Not a bad substitute - crusty and sweet and crunchy and juicy. Also, my new heart rate monitor arrived. Also one of my textbooks for the fall. I hadn't been looking forward to that last item, but I flipped through, looking at the pictures, and got a sudden craving flung upon me# to work with toddlers - pictures of toddlers with genetic disorders on stability balls and foam rollers and such, learning to balance. How cool.

*pop tarts seem to be one of the staple college student foods, but the last time I checked, they had gelatin. While that is still true of the strawberry ones, I see that it is not true of the unfrosted brown sugar cinnamon variety, my childhood favorite, although they probably didn't include TBHQ in the 1960s. http://www2.kelloggs.com/ProductDetail.aspx?id=434
This lack of gelatin may be dangerous knowledge.

Hmm. All of a sudden I'm writing entries like Robin McKinley, except without bold or italics.
