lauradi7dwGlee has a character who began as a violent bully, football player, etc.
SPOILERS
it turns out he is gay, severely closeted, self-loathing, etc. Over the past season he has come to repent his bullying ways, but can't bring himself to come out. He is not part of the Glee club. People worried that the character was heading toward suicide, but the producers issued statements that this will not occur. The actor portraying him has been terrific, has a very
expressive face, and has made anti-bullying one of his causes. He (Max Adler, the actor) began his show biz career in a choir in high school. There have been many testimonials for him and for Chris Colfer, who plays the openly gay character, from kids who have stayed in school and/or had the courage to come out due to the portrayals of the two characters. This goes above and beyond, though - there is an entire internet campaign to get Adler's character written in such a way that he can sing. This is a condensation of videos people have put up in support of the campaign.

The show has hired a new bunch of writers - should they just have gone with fanfic instead?
