annoyances unrelated to my incompetence
Nov. 29th, 2011 06:46 pmThe CDC claims that it takes longer for children and teens to recover from a mild TBI than it does for adults. Some journal article in 1995 (1995! still cited!) said that people over 55 take longer to heal or may not heal entirely (the latter part is true for any age group). Over 55 is still in the general adult category, one would think.
Tip that wasn't carefully copy-edited, from the American Academy of Neurology:
"If you suspect the person may have a neck injury or if the person is unconscious [snip]
do not let the athlete return to play until examined by a doctor." I know that under bad circumstances, players were told to shake it off an go back onto the field/court, but I can't imagine even in those games that they tried to put in unconscious players.
