Cultural reference editor?
Jun. 13th, 2012 03:39 pmI've been working my way through George R R Martin's Fire & Ice series. Every once in a while, one of the characters says something that pulls me straight out of the milieu he's created. The one today was "fart in their general direction."* Seriously. It's a good phrase. That's why lots of people copied it after hearing it, but it's unmistakably Monty Python, and shouldn't appear in any other literary context, as far as I'm concerned. In the introduction to this interview, the person mentions the need for more editing, but she doesn't specify how much or what sort.
