Explaining cable TV
Feb. 13th, 2014 01:55 pmNPR's Mike Pesca is about to be Slate's Mike Pesca instead. Also, "I will probably continue to appear on cable television, which for you interns is like SnapChat but with a bigger screen."
My parents have Direct TV, which in their area has gotten rid of the Weather Channel (one of their most-watched stations), and they don't have NBCSN, so they are stuck with only NBC's regular Olympic coverage, which seems to be mostly figure skating during prime time. We went for ages without cable (we have Verizon), but I like it. I'd be less happy without BBC America, for example.
