The movie Snowpiercer was popular and high-grossing around the world, but its US release was held up due to a fit of pique on the part of Harvey Weinstein, who wanted editing rights (in essence).  Background here:

Even in a big place like the Boston area, it's hard to find.  I took the T (an hour and a half from home) to Coolidge Corner.  I got there 20 minutes before show time.  It was sold out, although barely - the person two spaces before me in line had bought the last one.  The Coolidge has the admirable policy that you can opt out within the first 20 minutes of a show (including trailers) and get your money back.  I checked in at the 10 and 20 minute marks, hoping for a returned ticket, but nope.  It seems to me that if a 1:30 PM weekday show is selling out, it might indicate showing it in a bigger room, or on more than one screen.  My next shot at it will probably be Thursday, if at all.  It's showing at the Brattle at 10PM only.
