What's the real job of the President of the USA?  As [livejournal.com profile] jducoeur has pointed out, it's called the Executive branch.  Is the job just managerial?  Visionary?   A good manager could provide inspiration as well, of course.
I started wondering whom the Founders would vote for.  I am pretty sure John Adams would feel the Bern*.  I expect Ben Franklin would go with Hillary, due to the foreign policy experience, although her vote in favor of invading Iraq was a foreign policy blunder I haven't yet forgiven.  I started wondering about heart-throb Alexander Hamilton.  I'm pretty sure he would go with Hillary also, or possibly more accurately, he'd be loudly annoyed about
Bernie's anti-bank anti-Wall Street rhetoric. I quit before I got to T Jefferson or G Washington, because I haven't stopped holding slavery against them, so I don't care about their political opinions.  (hypocracy alert - I'm happy to cite them when pointing out that the Founders weren's all Christians.  TJ made his own version of the New Testament, removing anything that implied divinity for Jesus.  GW went to church, but tended to leave before time for Communion).

* We tried to find out whether Jane Fonda had trademarked/copyrighted "Feel the burn," one of the catch phrases from her exercise videos of the early 1980s.  As far as we can tell, it went immediately into the public domain, so the Sanders campaign probably isn't paying for use.

Arthur tends to be more optimistic than I, but we discovered that each of us is taking comfort in the fact that the nation endured the administration of Andrew Jackson.  Each of us independently thought of Jackson when trying to imagine a Trump presidency.  The analogy of "Indian Removal" (including the Trail of Tears) and the plan to get rid of all undocumented immigrants is too close to ignore.
