It is hard for me to internalize, but Arthur's sleek aerodynamic 2014 (?) Volvo is clearly wider than the 1979 Volvo station wagon I drove until part of its frame rusted into dangerous territory. Additionally, there are always clouds of flies in the garage, so we assume there is something dead or rotten in there somewhere, even though there is no foul smell. So it is clearly time to create some empty space. I have booked a visit from 1-800 Got Junk next week, which gives me only a few days to pile up everything I want to have hauled away. I am really dreading getting started (see above: presumed carcasses)and there is the additional problem of convincing myself to get rid of things. For example, we have two or three rusty unicycles with tires flattened beyond repair. Are there still kids who like to tinker with things who might want to strip them for parts? From the time Flo was tiny until she moved away, we erected a rickety sukkah every year. After she moved away, we stopped, and our observance of the holiday now involves walking up to the synagogue and eating a snack in *their* sukkah (one visit a year. Certainly not multiple meals a day)or attending a party at a friend's house. So it has been ten years since we did anything with the poles and joints and so forth. Like most things, I have sentimental feelings about them, but there is no reason to have them take up space. I will offer the sukkah frame and unicycles on the local freecycle equivalent, but don't expect any takers.
