garage update
Sep. 2nd, 2016 04:38 pmIt feels almost empty to us. The scrap metal (including some old metal garbage cans, radiator covers, and the rusty unicycles) is on its way to being made into new metal (I hope), the moldy wood is gone, the bags of pink insulation are gone, the useless "decorative" plastic shutters are gone. The nice pieces of ash, in keeping with their almost magical reputation, are straight and whole and fungus-free. No creatures, living or dead, were uncovered. I mentioned the flies at knitting group and learned that half the knitters had had unusual fly infestations this summer. The theory is that it has something to do with our hot dry summer (as with almost all months for several years, July and August were the hottest on record, and we are eight inches below normal rainfall). I hope the cars enjoy their newly spacious abode. Arthur has designated an area at the back of the garage, in front of which there will be nothing but cars. We'll see how long that works.
