Most of my lower extremity injuries are on the right. Ongoing (on and off) IT band stuff, crepitis in the right patella, discomfort from the fact that my right foot is slightly shorter than my left, resulting in bad shoe fit (on the theory that a slightly bigger shoe on the right is better than a too-tight left one), plus some glute stuff that may be a result of trying to sort out the IT stuff. On Thursday, I was walking across the bedroom (barefooted) and had sudden sharp pain in the left knee. Cursing, flex & extend experiments, everything OK until it happened again a couple of times. Then it was OK. I did some quad sets, worried a lot, and got up the next day feeling normal, and walked five miles with a friend. Climbed some stairs, did some errands, all OK. Then one brief bout again. I can't actually figure out whether my patella is slipping out of place or one of the tendons is just going sproing in some weird way. Saturday morning I packed an ace bandage in case the Tai Chi class set something off, but it was fine. Had a day that included walking, stairs, a short run with no problem. Then it happened briefly again. Same kind of thing today. It usually happens when my feet are bare, mostly (not always) on carpeted floors at home. Arthur says I should seek medical attention, but it's like a car that has an intermittent problem - my guess is that the (now) trick knee wouldn't do its trick if an expert were to look at it.

An expert could maybe look at an MRI scan and see the missing X or the out-of-alignment Y and offer a solution... Or, just say, "sucks to be you" (which is pretty much the story with my shoulder.)
