spelling is hard; reading is easier
Nov. 20th, 2016 01:01 pmThe Junior choir at church (follen.org) put up a display of their gratitude lists. Friends figured prominently on almost every list, but they were only spelled that way part of the time (the age range of the choir is 2nd-5th grade, I think). Firends, frends, freinds all showed up. I remarked on it to the woman standing next to me, who said that she was grateful for spell check, because she has trouble with it too. But we didn't have any trouble reading the lists - it's much easier to figure out what someone meant than to spell it right the first time.
