we are going to reboot the whole plane
Dec. 8th, 2016 09:25 amIf that is not what the pilot said, it's what we all understood, anyway. We were loaded and belted in, sitting around. Time passed. The pilot came on with the announcement that they were getting a computer error message that they didn't like, and the solution they came up with was to shut off all the electricity on the plane for 6-7 minutes. He warned us that it would get stuffy and be dark. It wasn't bad. They re-opened the door to the jet bridge, so there was some air circulation, and it wasn't entirely dark - the glowing lines on the floor glowed, and many small hand-held devices provided some light. When they turned everything back on, the error message was gone, they decided whatever it was had been fixed, and we took flight. I was a little worried, after all the scare stories of people being able to hack airplane computer systems, but we arrived safely.
