meet the artist
Sep. 14th, 2018 02:54 pmWhile changing terminals at Philadelphia airport yesterday (don't be too judgey about me leaving NC before being stuck in the hurricane - I did lots of prep*, and my sister stayed), I was admiring lots of art. It turns out that it's a temporary installation, celebrating 20 years of art at the airport. A person came up and asked if I would like to meet one of the artists. Sure. I chatted briefly with the crochet artist

I was enchanted by the art, but startled to see that all of terminal B, at least, seems to be a casino with airline gates - almost every surface has tablets at which one can gamble by swiping a credit card. Not a few - dozens or maybe hundreds of them.
*apparently, what the average hurricane prepper buys at the Food Lion is bread, toilet paper, junk food, fruit (canned and fresh), Spaghettios, and canned tuna. There was still a good supply of fresh milk and eggs, at least on Tuesday, but they were down to a couple of boxes of shelf-stable almond milk. Many gas stations were out on Tuesday, but back to full service on Wednesday. Fun anecdote - one of my parents' caregivers has relatives in SC. On Tuesday, they turned up at his house, unannounced, having decided that mid-NC was a good place to evacuate to.
